MILIEU team member, Clara Sánchez-Rebato Valiente, is the first woman with cerebral palsy in Spain to obtain a doctorate!

We are extremely proud of our colleague Clara Sánchez-Rebato Valiente and her brilliant defense of her Doctoral thesis!

Clara Sánchez-Rebato Valiente is Spain’s first woman with cerebral palsy to earn a doctorate in communication and advertising. Furthermore, she is the first woman with cerebral palsy to apply for this academic degree in the Community of Madrid. On March 28, she successfully defended her dissertation, “Booktube: Let’s Talk About Literature.” Study of the dynamics between YouTube creators and users through books” at the Complutense University of Madrid’s Faculty of Information Sciences, earning the distinction of outstanding cum laude.

Clara’s interests – communication, literature, and gender, are all represented in her thesis.

Clara holds a journalism degree from Madrid’s Complutense University. She also holds a master’s degree in International Journalism from the University of Sussex (Brighton, UK), as well as a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has worked as a youth literature editor for national publishers such as SM as well as national media outlets such as RNE.

Liisa Irene Hanninen and Olga Kolotouchkina, who directed the dissertation, are both also part of the MILIEU team.
