“Gender, Disability, and Violence” International Conference – Keynote speaker confirmed

We are glad to announce that the keynote speaker for the “Gender, Disability and Violence” International Conference, which will be held on the 6th and 7th of October in Sofia and hybrid, is confirmed. Our keynote speaker will be Prof. Phoebe Kisubi Mbasalaki from the University of Essex

Phoebe Kisubi Mbasalaki is a lecturer in Sociology at the University of Essex. Prior to that, she was a post-doctoral research fellow on the GlobalGRACE project (https://www.globalgrace.net) housed at the African Gender Institute (AGI) and the Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies (CTDPS) at the University of Cape Town as well as the NGO – Sex Workers Advocacy and Educational Task Force (SWEAT). She was also a lecturer in the gender studies program at the AGI – University of Cape Town and Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Her research interests are in critical race, gender, class, sexuality, creative activism, public health as well as decolonial thought and praxis.
